Bio

Panico expresses his sculpture through the mediums of stone, metal, and wood. Working as a 'direct carver', using macquettes, and drawings responding intuitively to the material — often sourced as locally as possible.

Originally trained in typography and book cover design at the London College of Printing before retraining in the early 1990s as a stone and letter carver at the City and Guilds of London Art School. There, Panico studied under renowned Welsh sculptor John Roberts, best known for carving the modern-day martyrs on Westminster Abbey. His early work included carving segments of the replacement Rose Window at Hereford Cathedral.
